I have worked in education and mental health for over 15 years and have seen the benefits of culturally attuned social services. Jordyn and I started Sankofa to ensure we could offer these services, prioritizing "ease of access." That means less money and red tape needed to receive exceptional mental health and reproductive health counseling. It is my sincere hope that our reach continues to broaden and provide more women of color and their families with the support they need to thrive.
I am a pre-med bio major dedicated to becoming an OB-GYN and advocating for women of color in the healthcare system. As COO of Sankofa Health Collective, I strive to ensure accessible mental health resources that empower our community. My goal is to merge my medical education with advocacy to address disparities in maternal health and improve healthcare outcomes for all women.

My background in community mental health has shaped my commitment to advocating
for marginalized voices and promoting inclusivity. I bring a deep awareness of social
justice into the therapy room, and I make sure that you feel safe and understood,
especially when it comes to the complex intersections of race, class, gender, and
sexuality. I’m dedicated to creating a space where the impacts of systemic oppression
are recognized and where all aspects of your identity are honored.

I’m Lauren, a trauma-informed therapist specializing in the experiences of
targeted communities of color, transformative justice, family therapy, substance use, and domestic violence. I’m completing my Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy at Antioch University. I hold a Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Systemic Trauma, a framework that examines how harmful practices and institutional environments contribute to trauma.
My approach is non-judgmental, down-to-earth, and compassionate, emphasizing genuine, supportive connections with my clients. I believe in the intrinsic worthiness and power within us all, and I am dedicated to helping individuals identify and harness those
qualities as part of their healing.
